tonight we’ll be returning to our old standby in the neighborhood…the place we all went to at the oddest hours because…well it was the only show in town back then…now we have lavish, castle, even hell gate social still for the pioneers who like their crowds more mixed and fabulous…well we never forget our roots and tonight we’ll pay homage to the one who was the only game to play – especially on friday nights when all the musical theatre boys and their friends and fans would pack into Albatross for a night of singing that typically bordered on the surreal!

SUN – MAR 1 – OUT ASTORIA MARCHES IN THE ST PATRICK’S DAY FOR ALL PARADE – 1PM TO 4PM – FREE
Skillman Avenue & 43 Street, Sunnyside, NY – email@example.com
As I’m sure most of you have already heard us talking about the all-inclusive-everyone-is-welcome-st-patrick’s-day parade held in Queens every year by our own Out Astorian, Brendan Fay…his St. Patrick’s Day for All Parade has been the pride of the borough for several years and Out Astoria will once again be marching under our own banner!
Our Technical Director Chap Day has volunteer to orchestrate and organize Out Astoria’s marching in the parade – a good 30 some people have already signed up but of course since this is an all inclusive parade…we’re always ready to welcome more people who want to march with our group in the parade. If you want to march with Out Astoria just email Chap at:
and let him know you’ll be meeting up with the rest of us at Skillman Avenue and 43rd Street between 12:30 and 1:00 pm this coming Sunday in Sunnyside for the start of the parade. (make sure you check the weather report before leaving the house – even the start of march can be temperature-iffy) And feel free to bring any friends you want to bring along…remember…it’s all about inclusiveness!
WED – MAR 11 – OUT ASTORIA MARCH DINNER AT THAI PAVILION – 7PM
37-10 30 Avenue, Astoria, NY – 718-777-5546
We try to get to Thai Pavilion at least once a year – this is the site of one of Out Astoria’s first official dinners and they first time yours truly helped the guys invite more boys to the event!
You’ll love the food here – while some who are nitpicky foodies will say it’s not authentic enough for their overdeveloped palates – I don’t think it really CAN be considered authentic Thai food unless you’re actually in Thailand, you know? And yes i know it’s not exactly a “vegan” option (i’m working on it, trust me) this is probably one of the more vegetarian friendly places we’ve been to in months – they’re very particular about their vegetarian dishes!
The only Thai food place I like more than Pavilion is up near my digs on Ditmars and only has enough seating for 20 people at most – unlike Thai Pavilion where they can seat our group of 30+ and still have room for more people! So if you haven’t RSVPed, let us know if you’re coming…we’ll save a seat for you!
FRI – MAR 20 – OUT ASTORIA MIXER AT EITHER LAVISH OR QUEENS CASTLE – 7PM TO LATE
We’re still working on this with Mimi – much as we love having Lavish as our standard mixer location – most of you haven’t seen the fabulous digs of Queens Castle yet and since they’re run by the same people – we though we might have the mixer here…however with Friday nights being designated “girls only” night (aka bi and lesbian friends) we have to be sure the girls will be okay with letting the boys in their club house for at least a few hours that night!
I’ll let you know when it’s all confirmed!

(Including a Trivia Tournament that Out Astoria has a team involved with these days – you can ask me if you want to know more about that!)
okay i guess that’s all for now!
