Hope you’re all managing to keep yourselves cool for what appears to be a record-setting-sweltering July! Hopefully things will be cycling down for the end of the month into the hazy days of August, but there’s no promise of that, sadly.
Of course tonight’s dinner is in the sleek, new, and comfortably air-conditioned Five Napkin Burger recently opened in Astoria!
Come join Out Astoria for their July dinner at Astoria’s newest restaurant scene and enjoy some amazing food with old friends and new faces! We’ve got room for at least 20 people so make sure you RSVP and get there close to 7pm!
I’ve been lucky enough to have experienced a little preview of the goodies at 5NB, but our friends at Why Leave Astoria have plugged out a few of the highlights from that awesome preview! (My personal favorite were the Deep Fried Pickles & Pastrami starter!) However the overall high scoring burger appeared to be (surprisingly enough) the Italian Turkey Burger! Though nobody was complaining about the Lamb Kofta Burger or 5 Napkin Veggie Burger either! But worry not, the menu is hardly limited to mere burgers; they’ve got some great salads, sushi rolls, even fish and chips for the less daring of us…you’re sure to find something you’ll enjoy.
So when you get there tonight, just tell the greeter you’re with the Out Astoria group and they’ll direct you over to our area. If you’ve got any questions, just let me know!
also coming up this weekend, we’ve got:
Another opportunity to beat the July heat this Friday at Out Astoria’s July Mixer at Mix! If you’ve been before, you know how it pays to get there on time, but if this is your first time; for just $5 cover at the door you’ll get one hour of free drinks (well drinks and beer/wine only of course) from 8:00 to 9:00 PM, but stick around later on for music and antics with everyone for the rest of the evening into the wee hours of the morning (as usual)!
Lately we’ve been talking with Mix Manager Michael, and if we’re lucky, Mix’s new in-house food purveyor Zusie’s will be providing noms for the hungrier mixer attendees this Friday too! They only just had their soft opening on the 19th but before you know it they’ll be cranking out brunch, lunch, and dinner for everyone in the neighborhood!
So come for the drinks, stay for the friendly chit-chat, but maybe stick around for a snack with Zusie!
Also happening this weekend:
The biggest Astoria Music & Arts event of the year! on Saturday, July 24 over 30 bands and DJs on 4 different stages are taking over Astoria Park and remaking it into a musical wonderland! There will be art, there will be glorious, glorious summer weather, there will be live music all day long into the evening, and all your friends and neighbors will be there (the young and attractive, the old and hip, and everything in between).
The full schedule of bands and DJs are listed on the facebook event page, in case you’re wondering who’s playing when and on what stage.
Also, the Green Bus Tour will be making runs from McCarren Park in Williamsburg to Astoria Park for this event (in case you have any Brooklyn-ite friends who are jealous you get this huge event in your backyard)!
A spectacular night to raise money for the 9thirty Theatre Company, one of the country’s first Eco Theatres and Tri-State Birds, the main clinic helping animals in the Gulf of Mexico. The event goal is to raise $15,000 so come out and support a meaningful cause and a local arts organization!
Tickets are limited but can still be purchased at Ovation Tickets!
Astoria’s new “night out” for the ladies. Kiki’s home is Mix Cafe & Lounge and has a different theme each Tuesday night! Join the facebook group to get the lowdown on upcoming events!
See you at dinner!
